Google has introduced an algorithmic driven intelligence engine to Google Analytics. This feature will provide automatic alerts of significant changes in the data patterns of your site. Suppose you have a sudden spike in traffic due to some social media site, it will alert you on that. You can set the alerts daily, weekly and monthly according to your needs using different metrics. It will allow you to see an increase visits from a traffic source and drop in traffic from a region according to Google.

Intelligence Engine provides automated custom alerts to webmaster regarding the changes in traffic patterns. The traffic pattern to be monitored could be modified through dashboard. The triggering of reports could be made daily, weekly or monthly.

This new feature [intelligence] allows you to see an overview of the major events happening on any particular day before segmenting the data to drill down further.

You can also create alerts to warn you if your search traffic for a particular keyword drops by more than a certain percentage compared to the previous day or the same day last week.
