Are You A Gamer? These Are Some Upgrades You Might Want To Consider For Your PC
The industry of computer gaming is growing by the day and so are the hardware your computer needs to support these latest games. Therefore your computer needs to be constantly upgraded if you are a serious gamer. In this blog I am going to mention the most important parts of your computer needs that might need to be upgraded to support the latest games.
In this blog I am going to assume that you know how to open your computer and install the new parts. Please note that not every CPU or video card will be supported by your motherboard, and your PSU. So before buying any part you might want to check for the requirements (like wattage etc..)
Central Processing Unit
The CPU Is basically the brain of the computer, the better this is, the better your overall computer performance will be. If you are a serious computer gamer, you should have at least a Intel Core 2 Duo, with a clock speed of 2.16ghz (which is minimal, and will not be enough for all the games), if you have a big budget you might want to consider the Intel Core 2 Quad or even the Intel Core i7. Of course you can always go with AMD, but, according to most of my friends, the AMD is not the best option right now, but, there are a lot of different opinions out there, so it’s up to you, but if you want to go with AMD, you might want to check the AMD Athlon. Personally I don’t know much about AMD, so I’m not going into much detail.
Make sure that after you purchase your CPU, you buy an adequate heat sink, because if your CPU heats too much it will crash your computer.
Video Card
This is the most important thing when it comes to computer gaming. This is more important than the CPU, if you have a decent CPU you can still play games, but if you don’t have a decent video card you will not be able to play the latest games with decent FPS. Personally I’d recommend nVidia or ATI video cards, they are the best. I would not recommend you to buy an XFX over clocked nVidia video card though.
Some aspects that you might consider before buying a video card is the wattage they need, and make sure that your PSU will be able to handle that, or else your PC will most likely not start up or crash. Aside from that make sure that they support high resolutions and I’d recommend at least a 512Mb dedicated memory, but a 1Gb dedicated memory would be better, will surely boots the game performance, and if it is DDR3, it would be even better. Make sure that your motherboard supports the new PCI Express and not the old AGP, in which case the new video cards won’t work.
You can even buy 2 of the same type of video card and connect them both at the same time, but for you to do this the motherboard needs to support SLI technology, which will enable you to connect 2 video cards at the same time and you will have double the performance.
Motherboard
This is the most important thing on your computer, because if this device will not support the latest hardware it will be useless if you try and upgrade your computer with the latest hardware. Make sure that it supports the latest CPUs and that it has PCI Express slots. If you are planning to buy 2 video cards you should make sure that your motherboard supports SLI technology.
Mouse, Keyboard and Sound
I’d recommend that you buy a good laser mouse, which at least supports 2500 DPI, which will help you a lot when playing in high resolutions. As for gaming keyboards I’m not much into them, but I hear that Logitech keyboards are quite good, but aside from that I can’t help much.
As for sound, I personally prefer a USB headset, I’ve got a Logitech one which is very good, it has surround sound (kind of) and while playing call of duty or such games, it’s very helpful because I can detect if someone is walking behind me, or a grenade fell somewhere near me. If instead you want the big speakers I’d recommend at least a 5.1 surround system and a good sound card. Make sure that you have a good sound card, because with good speakers and a shitty sound card, you will still have shitty sound.
The last words…
If you are planning to upgrade your PC but you have no idea which parts of your computer need upgrades, you might want to visit http://www.systemrequirementslab.com and run some tests of the latest games, this will tell you which parts of your computer do not support the game you selected, so do this for a couple latest games and you should know exactly what parts you need to upgrade.
