In Internet
Hey!

Today I'm going to show you how to create a nice sleek menubar. Follow me.

1. Creating Background

First let's create a new Photoshop document. I'll use size 500 x 80 (width x height).

New document

Now let's use "Rectangular Marguee Tool" to draw your menu's shape.

Rectangular Marguee Tool

If your shape is drawn, go to "Edit" and there select "Fill". There in "Contents" dropdown box is "Black" - select it and then press OK to apply black color.

Box

Now right click on "Layer 1" and select "Blending Options". There set these settings:

Gradient Overlay

Stroke

2. Adding Text

Now it's time for a text. Use font that what you like. Make sure your text's color is white.

Text

Now select all your text layers by holding down "CTRL" and clicking on text layers. If all text layers are selected right click on one of those layers and select "Rasterize Type". If it's done right click on layers also and select "Merge Layers". Now let's change the opacity of this new layer. Change it's opacity to 70.

Opacity

Now create a new layer and select "Single Column Marguee Tool":

Now press "D" to change your foreground color to black and background color to white and click between menu words to make a stripe. Do like this: Click between words (in the middle), hold down ALT and press BACKSPACE, now press "X to change colors, click next to black column, hold down ALT and press BACKSPACE to make a white column. It should look like this:

Black and white columns

Now hold down CTRL and press J to duplicate those columns and move those between each word so it will look like this:

Now select "Rectangular Marguee Tool":

Now do like you did before.. select all columns layers like this: hold down CTRL and click on all column's layers. When it's done right click on a layer and select "Merge Layers".
Now select your columns like this:

Select

Go to Select and there select Inverse. If it's done click Delete on your keyboard to remove excess parts of those columns.
Now change this layer's opacity to 10.

Now it should look like this:

Outcome

3. Adding Gloss

Create a new layer and use "Rectangular Tool" again to draw this:

Now go to Edit and there select "Fill". When the dialog window is open select "White" from Contents dropdown box and press OK to apply white color.
Click on "Layer 1" and go to Select, there select "Load Section". Now click on your white color's layer and go to "Select" and there select "Inverse". Now press "Delete" to remove all excess color and it should look like this:

white color

Now change the white color's layer's opacity to 12.

Now your menu should look like this:

4. Final Words

And you are done. Wasn't that simple ? You can customize it how ever you want, my outcome looks like this:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you have questions feel free to ask from me.

Regards,
Jaan
