When players of the hottest game on Facebook, Farmville, got bored of the game, they asked for a new and much more interactive game based on the same concept as Farmville. The users requested a game which is more lively and interactive than Farmville and with less clicking, because while playing Farmville you have to click on all the freaking crops to plow, plant and harvest, so if you have only 20, that means 60 clicks, so imagine if you have a 20x20 land how many click you have to make! So the users also complained of all the repetitive clicking in Farmville to achieve something and wanted this game to involve less clicking. So Zynga, the group behind these applications, launched a new application to satisfy these requirements, the new game was Fishville.
You can start playing the game by going tohttp://apps.facebook.com/fishville/ and once you accept that the game can access your information you will see this loading screen:

Fishville is mostly based on Farmville’s guidelines. You will start by creating a tank and a few fish. So once the loading screen is over you will see this:

So press the ‘Create Tank!’ button and you can choose different backgrounds and gravels styles for your tank. You are then made to go through a short and easy tutorial, which is very easy and will give you a rough idea on how you should play the game. The game basically consists of buying fish, letting them grow, feeding them and eventually selling them for coins and experience. Just like any real life fish farm.
This is the basic interface of the game once you create the fish tank:

Now you should buy more fish, feed them, let them grow and sell them. You can check how old a fish is by moving your cursor on it, you will see something like this:

Fish age from level 1 to level 4, meaning you can either sell it once it grows to level 1, 2 or 3 or you can wait until it fully grows to level 4. Each level increases with time and each level adds to the fish’s value.
Once your fish grows you will see a message box like this:

You gain experience by performing actions like feeding, buying, selling and cleaning algae (similar to Farmville’s cleaning withered leaves and shooing crows). As you level up you will unlock more fish and more decorations for your tank. You can also buy more tanks (which is similar to Farmville’s upgrading farm size feature). And yes, Fishville also has the neighbor option, therefore be ready to get tons of requests on Facebook from your friends.
The game doesn’t have one feature that most fish simulations have, the element of surprise. The game doesn’t involve breeding of fish to acquire new species. All the breeds are available in the in-game store and can be bought at appropriate levels. So, you can’t wake up and find some exotic new fish in your tank (which is a shame). So, if you want a new specie, you can only acquire it by buying it.
Fishville acts as a refreshing game for Facebook users and is one of a kind. No simulation on Facebook has been more realistic. Personally, I think it has the potential to be the best online simulation game, if a few modifications will be done, but it is still in beta, so we will see what updates Zynga has for this game. Its interactivity and liveliness will pave its way to fame. The game has much scope for updates and is still in beta. So, get ready for asking your friends for gifts and be sure to ask them to be your new neighbors’ (which will help you to get awards in the future).
