Set Firefox Mailto to Launch Gmail as it’s Default e-mail Client
This is a short blog, that will take part in another blog about setting up Gmail to be your default client in Windows, but first I am going to blog on how to setup Gmail as the default client in Firefox, which will help us in the other blog that I will post in the near future.
So, open Firefox and go to the Gmail website and log in, and after that in the address bar copy and paste this:
javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto"," https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","GMail")
Then you will see a bar that will ask for your permission to add this new application, you have to press ‘Add Application’
Once you do make sure that you set Gmail as the default application by doing to Tools / Options

And click the applications tab:

Once you do scroll down until you find mailto

Click on ‘Always ask’ and then click on ‘Use Gmail’

Click OK and you are done. All the mailto links will open into Gmail

GMail had a link you could click on to do this as well. I can't find it though.
