Homeschooling wins hands down just for the freedom to teach what you want to teach. You choose whats right for your child.
A lot of schools have a lot of issues, like being tied up in red tape and huge rows starting over how people are treated for whatever reason. Controversies like evolution and creationism being taught and people of certain religions not being allowed to take off days for their religious holidays wouldn't happen at home.
I don't have any statistics on hand, but public schools are so bad that I don't see how homeschooling CAN'T be better.
